Listed below are a few facts about the mobile industry which aren't quite as legendary as Chuck Norris facts but will hopefully give you something to quote next time you want to sound knowledgeable at a dinner party. Ok here it goes:
- More than 1 billion phones are sold per year
- 350 million people will have access to wireless e-mail by 2010
- The first sms to be sent read "merry xmas" and was sent in 1992
- South Africa is the largest mobile market on the African continent
- The minimum average spent per mobile user is between R125.00 – R149.00 per month
