Microsoft Phone... it's coming

Seems I wasn't far wrong when I thought the only way Microsoft's new OS makes sense was if they would be launching their own mobile phone. This is a post from their own blog:

"Windows Mobile is reborn. We all met the new Windows Phone 7 and by the end of the year we'll meet the first smartphones based on it. Reportedly, Microsoft will launch their own phone in early 2011 as well. And it will be made by Asus."
"According to the Northeast Securities analyst Ashok Kumar, there is more to see from the company. A Microsoft branded mobile phone. Currently, it's in the works and is expected to be ready for its premiere sometime at the beginning of the next year."
"Microsoft's own Windows Phone 7 smartphone will be a touchscreen-equipped bar made by Asus. None of the companies have neither confirmed nor denied that so far."

Developing trend?

Hmmm. Do we see a trend here where software companies are moving into hardware (e.g. Google Nexus One)? What does it mean for other manufacturers who support this software as well? Interesting times ahead... It's time to get an expert opinion. Watch this space!

Best hardware

Alot of new brands are entering the scene. I don't think they all can survive on the market together. Only the best will make it. And who knows, the one. that "makes it" might be a product we didn't even see as yet.

Microsoft phone?

Interesting reading Palesa, but I'm still not convinced Microsoft is not going to launch their own device. I suppose only time will tell because they will deny it till the week before they do.
