Follow-up review of i8910HD

As stated in my earlier Handset review here's my follow-up review of the i8910HD. After having owned the phone for about a month now and learning all it's features I can now give a more indepth review.

The phones screen is gorgeous especially compared to other new touch screen phones. Colours are deep and rich while blacks are as dark as the Marianas Trench. It must be said though that eligibility in direct sunlight is not that good but if you position the phone a certain way it can be improved. The screen is very responsive requiring only slight gestures to get things done. The screen seems to be quite scratch resistant although I haven't thoroughly tested this one out...

New Samsung Omnia phones and Windows Mobile 6.5

The new suite of Samsung Omnia phones will support Windows Mobile 6.5 . What's more, the Samsung Omnia Lite B7300 will ship with this version while the Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 and OmniaPRO B7320 B7330 will ship with WM 6.1 which will be upgradeable to WM 6.5 (free).

Some of you have asked if the currently available Samsung Omnia (i900) will be upgradeable to WM 6.5. This will unfortunately not happen as the I900 hardware was not built to support this version of the operating system.

If you have any questions regarding this topic, please leave a comment or submit a support query.

Latest i900 Omnia JCIC1 ROM....does not compute

Official ROMS...are ok for noobs but I think if you really want a decent Omnia with a user interface that doesn't suck that's highly optimised, full of cool tools, tweaked and tons of glitches and bugs fixed then a custom ROM is one of the better ways to go.

It's not for everyone (some ROM's are more difficult to get on than others), but the newer cutom ROM's are now coming out with one click installers which are no more complicated than the official installers. Yes it's risky (you've been warned) but there isn't exactly lack of risk in an official upgrade either.

Bluetooth file transfer on Omnia

This was before the New firmware Samsung (i900JCIC1/JCIC1) I will test this part on the new.

One other thing I have picked up with regards to Bluetooth is, if one transfer a file to the i900 let’s say in the hundreds of megabyte the i900 struggle to cope with this size, and in many cases the files is nowhere to be found on the i900.
With use of the application, I have managed to figure out why a big Bluetooth file is not excepted by the i900. I have taken two pics to show you that it is a memory problem, even if I have my Bluetooth settings setup to store on my card, even my storage have enough storage space. It look as if the Bluetooth file stores in the wrong place despite that fact that I have the Bluetooth default folder setup.

Question: New firmware update for Samsung Omnia

Hi,

I'd like to know if anyone updated their Samsung software on the new JCIC1 version.

If so would you say it's better than the current version and what extra goodies does one get with the new update?

Omnia Review

From the moment I saw the Omnia I wanted one. So in November 2008 I upgraded with a small pay-in.

I have not been disappointed. I have personalised the phone with the following applications without problems:

e-Sword, Mort Buttons, MS reader and a small app which cleans the cache called ClearTemp.

I have aso managed to get my work GroupWise diary synced with the Omnia diary. This is great.
